Innovation that comes with deep reflection on environmental impact. Among the protagonists of this change within the fashion world is Genny Spadea, a brand that combines Italian sartorial excellence with a green mission. Founded in 2020, the brand has conquered international catwalks and passionate hearts thanks to collections that tell stories of beauty, art and respect for nature.

Behind the brand is Genny Spadea, a visionary designer who grew up in the heart of Italian fashion and was able to transform a childhood dream into an innovative project. With natural fabrics, reclaimed materials and a philosophy that celebrates fashion as an expression of art, her brand is a concrete response to the challenge of combining luxury and sustainability.

In this interview, Genny Spadea tells us her story, the vision of her brand and the dream of a fashion that leaves no footprints on the environment, but in the hearts of those who choose it.

Let’s start from the beginning, who is Genny Spadea and how was her brand born?

“I am a designer who has breathed Italian fashion since the 1980s, combining a passion for elegance and creativity with a deep sense of responsibility towards the planet. The Genny Spadea brand was born in 2020 with the goal of creating exclusive and sustainable fashion. It all started with a collection made from the highest quality reclaimed fabrics. That was just the first step in a journey that led us to introduce 100% natural materials, exclusive prints and even a beachwear line made from recycled materials”.

Sustainability is a pillar of your philosophy. How would you define the green soul of your brand?

“Sustainability for us is not just a value, it is the beating heart of everything we do. Every decision, from fabrics to production, is driven by the desire to reduce environmental impact and promote a more ethical and responsible idea of fashion. Our materials are natural or reclaimed, almost all from Italy, to reduce distances and embrace a fashion that respects the land. Even the packaging is eco-friendly, without plastic, and we communicate mostly digitally to avoid waste. We believe in fashion that leaves a positive imprint on the world”.

What is Genny Spadea’s approach to choosing materials?

“Each garment tells a story of love for quality and sustainability. The fabrics we use are natural, recycled or reclaimed, processed with sartorial attention that makes them durable over time. We believe that sustainability starts right here: creating clothes that are not disposable, but companions for life. We also offer advice on garment maintenance, because for us, sustainable fashion means taking care of what you wear, celebrating the beauty of conscious consumption”.

From the debut at the Phygital Sustainability Expo to the international catwalks, how has the brand grown?

“Our debut at the Phygital Sustainability Expo, among the Imperial Forums in Rome, was a magical moment that consolidated our brand’s positioning as a symbol of green elegance. From there, we took our collections to important runways such as Milan Fashion Week and Lisbon Fashion Week. Each event was an opportunity to tell our message of sustainability and glamour to a wider and wider audience, proving that luxury and respect for the planet can coexist”.

You have combined art and fashion in unique projects. How did collaborations like the one with Arturo Sereni come about?

“The collaboration with Arturo Sereni was one of the most inspiring experiences for our brand. In 2022, we started the capsule collection When Fashion Meets Art, printing his paintings on fine silk. Each piece in the collection was a wearable work of art, combining colors, emotions and creativity. Collaborations like these reflect our vision: fashion as an art form that expresses personality and leaves its mark. We are always exploring new collaborations, such as the one with Callen Schaub, to continue this dialogue between art and fashion”.

What is your dream for the future of Genny Spadea?

“To continue to combine luxury and sustainability, transforming the concept of fashion. We envision a future where every garment is unique, created with love for nature and people. We want our brand to be a reference point for those seeking elegance without compromise, where every detail tells a story of authentic beauty and responsibility”.

Your brand dresses both women and men. How would you describe the Genny Spadea woman and man?

“The Genny Spadea woman is in love with art, beauty and nature. She is a woman who celebrates her individuality with elegance and sensuality, regardless of size, age or ethnicity. Each garment is designed to embrace her uniqueness. The Genny Spadea man, introduced in 2024, on the other hand, is a symbol of an elegance that combines casual and tailored, while always maintaining a distinctive touch. At the same time, I want him to be a confident man, capable of daring and breaking the mold, just like for the woman. In the new collection with Callen Schaub, for example, I created silk shirts and pants in vibrant hues, garments designed for those who want to stand out. I am fascinated by the idea of dressing the new generations, respecting and enhancing their freedom of expression through versatile clothes that range from casual chic to evening suits. In both cases, our goal is to create fashion that is not just to be worn, but to be lived in”.

What do you want to convey to the young creatives you collaborate with?

“Collaborating with Fashion Schools is a mission for us. We want to inspire new generations to imagine a future where sustainability and beauty coexist. Our message is that fashion should not only be aesthetically appealing, but also ethical. We want young creatives to see their work as a form of positive change for the world”.

What is the final message you want to send to those who choose Genny Spadea?

“Choosing Genny Spadea means selecting fashion that tells stories, excites and respects the planet. Each garment is a declaration of love for the environment and excellent craftsmanship. Together, we can create a future where luxury is not a privilege, but an act of responsibility to the world”.
